Supervising Planner, Policy Innovation + Regional Collaboration

As Supervising Planner for Regional and Policy Planning at the Portland Bureau of Transportation, Eric leads a diverse and talented team responsible for developing and implementing the City's long-range Transportation System Plan and associated policies to define and advance the City's regional transportation policy agenda and desired outcomes, including those related to new mobility and climate. Prior to joining the City of Portland in 2018, Eric served as Strategic Planner for TriMet, the Portland metro regional transit operator for 12 years, during which time he led numerous climate and sustainability-related technical committees for the American Public Transportation Association. Eric also served as the representative of the Oregon League of Cities on Oregon’s legislatively created Task Force on Autonomous Vehicles, which convened in 2018 and 2019 to inform Oregon’s legal and policy framework for autonomous vehicle testing and deployment.  Eric holds Master’s degrees in Public Policy and Sustainable Systems from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Amherst College.
