Transportation Technology Strategist
Sam Brenner works in Boston's Office of Emerging Technology, where he launched Boston's Curb Lab and leads their nationally recognized innovation efforts. He also directs the City's U.S. Department of Transportation SMART Grant investments and technology implementations. Sam's work at the Curb Lab includes developing generative AI tools for City-wide curb maps, developing low-cost, privacy-preserving traffic sensors, and leveraging computer vision to improve transportation infrastructure management. Sam's work in Boston has been widely recognized for its use of open-source technology and open-data standards, allowing other cities to benefit from the Curb Lab's work. Prior to working for the City of Boston, Sam led product development teams at venture-backed start-ups and earned his Master’s in Public Policy from Northeastern University.
