Freight Supply Chain Is Transforming Metro Land Use From The Inside Out

The entire freight supply chain is shifting in the US, from the balance of import volume by coast, to inland warehousing/distribution strategies, and rapid evolution of urban delivery. With change accelerating and increased autonomous technology evolving into supply chain and delivery systems, some major land use shifts are underway. Most of the mid-sized US cities are reacting rather than planning ahead with policies to steer impacts on regional roadway networks, local economies, equity, and metro area-wide real estate development. This adds up to massive impacts from city cores to urban outskirts requiring strategies addressing these pivotal changes.
