An interdisciplinary conversation about new mobility, mobility as a service, and e-commerce in the midst of global disruption.
The 2020 Urbanism Next Virtual Forum brings together an interdisciplinary group of leaders to discuss how emerging technologies shape the future of our cities. Advances in emerging technology such as the rise of e-commerce, the proliferation of new mobility, and the growth of the sharing economy are having profound effects not only on how we live, move, and spend our time in cities, but also increasingly on urban form and development.
This timely conversation will address the short-term impacts and consider the long-term effects a global pandemic may have on these industries. How will these changes impact equity, health and safety, the economy, and the environment? How should governments respond? What additional education, outreach, and research is needed to understand these changes and respond to them?
Join this exciting discussion along with hundreds of innovative planners, architects, landscape architects, developers, technology experts, elected officials, and academics from around the world - without stepping outside of your home!
The Virtual Forum will be followed by a series of monthly webinars starting in June 2020. Access to this entire series of webinars is included in the price of the Virtual Forum.
Urbanism Next Conferences
We're excited to partner with NUMO, the National and Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association, the National and Northwest Chapter of the Urban Land Institute, the American Institute of Architects Oregon, and the Oregon Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects to create conferences, virtual events and webinars.
2020 Conference: COVID-19 Update
Due to the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the various mitigation efforts that have been put in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), State of Oregon, and the University of Oregon - we have decided to cancel the in-person Urbanism Next Conference originally scheduled to take place in Portland, OR May 13-15, 2020 and shift to an online platform.
We plan to have our next in-person conference take place in Portland in 2021 and will announce those dates as soon as they are confirmed. In the meantime, we are excited to host a virtual forum on May 14th in place of the conference. This summit will feature inspiring presentations from interdisciplinary leaders who are playing a leading role in navigating the future of our cities. We plan to follow up this virtual summit with a series of webinars throughout the year to feature some of the important presentations that would have taken place at our conference.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate this unprecedented situation. We appreciate our sponsors and the community of people who come together to support our work and participate in discussions about the impacts emerging technologies have on our cities.
Stay healthy and we look forward to connecting with you throughout the year!
