A 1950’s parking garage in Wichita, Kansas was converted into 44 one-bedroom apartments, ground floor office space, and a variety of resident amenities.

Cities around the country are rethinking their parking minimums in an effort to reduce construction costs and reduce excessive spaces in urban centers.

Not all parking garages can be converted into other uses due to their car-oriented structure, slanted ceilings, and lack of plumbing and mechanical systems.
