New Mobility: Autonomous Vehicles and the Region

New Mobility: Autonomous Vehicles and the Region

This report asks what role AVs can play in our society and how to create policy to allow them onto our streets in a way that will maximize our return?

Key findings

In preparation for AVs, we need to consider policies so they can interact well with transit, as to not override services we already have, and can seamlessly come in and out of the city to the suburbs.

Pricing policies should help lower transportation costs for individuals to make the use of shared fleets more desirable than personal vehicles.

AVs should be designed to help link people to public transit options and not be an alternative mode of transportation that takes the place of your personal vehicle and it should provide equitable access to all.
