In the first year since Amazon bought Whole Foods, two large grocers are already beginning to suffer and make drastic cuts.

Key findings

Tops Markets and Southeastern Grocers and both facing piling amounts of debt and the inability to compete with grocers who are able to offer organic options at value prices.

As a large scale, equity issue, some of these grocery stores are also the only one near neighboring communities where the next closest option is an extra 15-to-20 minute drive away.

Even with these companies facing closures, they both are planning to continue to adapt to the change market.
