Site design, parking and zoning for shopping centers

Site design, parking and zoning for shopping centers

This report describes a shoppers trip and what the planner may be most interested in about it as well as street design and it's accommodation for all activities that may need to happen throughout the day.

Key findings

There are four stages of a shoppers trip, the road to get there, the passage to get into the parking lot, the trip around the parking lot to find a spot, and the walk into the store.

Neighborhood shopping centers may require less parking due to the potential walk-in parking.

Uses of a regional shopping area are much more limited.
